wncsnow
Im thinking there is a bubble of warm air stuck at the lower levels here in the foothills and parts of the upstate, it is almost risen to 35 degrees now and most areas from marion to rutherfordton to the upstate are above freezing. jrips27
My sister just called and reported snow in Marietta GA which is just NE of Atlanta. Steady snow still here in Dahlonega GA. Temp is stuck above freezing which is killing my accumulation. Temp is 32.6. Still only 1/2" here at 1,500 ft. Would probably be about 2" if could have hit 32. Marietta is actually NW of Atlanta but whatever! Gonna go measure here in a second

jshetley
There's simply not enough cold air for this to work out on the I-85 corridor yet. The snow line is stuck well to the north of that, basically where the rain snow line was for superstorm 93. Maybe when the coastal low gets going we'll see a little something here. As soon as we get some heavier returns over our way everybody in the upstate will switch over to snow. And by the looks of the RUC we will get absolutely hammered this evening. brettjrob
Madison, AL (5 N HSV) Cloudy 34/32 Everything shut off abruptly about an hour ago here, making the duration of the event a bit less than I'd hoped for. Managed to pick up somewhere around 3-3.5" here on the west side of the HSV area, which of course still obliterates the previous Christmas record. Being that I'm only here a few weeks out of the year and managed to land this event, I'll take it. I'm not sure we ever hit freezing at the surface this morning. Now that it's over, we're back up to 34 and big chunks are falling out of the trees, etc. Scottsboro to Chattanooga looks to have been the sweet spot thus far, as modeled fairly well by the RUC and HRRR from late last night. A few shots here during the height of the "storm:"
