Ender
I know they threw out the 12Z American models...but still, even at 18Z...
Dr No
We'll see how many "initialization errors" appear. People have been wierder than normal with this storm. Maybe they are frustrated with the Euro giving up on it and now the GFS coming back west... or have already issued holiday weather forecasts (whether public, or friend/family forecasts) I've never seen the amount of negative human reaction to a potential snowstorm before or people grasping at straws at why the modelling is wrong. weathercoins
If euro shows gfs or better, things about to get nuts... We got a while though.
mitchnick
Ocean City will be a good bet for this storm. that's where I figure I can't loose I'm either going to OC for a couple days on Sunday or, if it looks imminent here, I'm staying put figure I can't loose snow-wise if the storm totally busts, I still spend a couple days at the beach anyway
Dr No
that's where I figure I can't loose I'm either going to OC for aq couple days on Sunday or, if it looks imminent here, I'm staying put figure I can't loose snow-wise if the storm totally busts, I still spend a couple days at the beach dunno...If it winds up any more or is a bit further west, they have p-type issues. Kmlwx
Yeah the SREF's look mighty fine...but LEK in the main 00z thread is reporting that the NAM is showing the trough less sharp.
Kmlwx
LEK now says (in the main thread) that trough has sharpened at hour 21 (NAM) but it is positive. He still seems to think it looks good.

waldo5252
So this NAM run, for a newb like me shows what. Seems like it wasn't as good as the 18z run for us....is this correct? I am not asking for a blizzard but 3-5 inches wouldbe nice....how far isa this NAM run from giving us that....I am in calvert county right on the western shore of the bay. RickinBaltimore
So the 18Z GFS shows BWI getting near a foot of snow...the 0Z NAM has BWI in the donut hole with NOTHING...what a drastic change between 2 models
Ender
If euro shows gfs or better, things about to get nuts... We got a while though. While not a "bad model" inside of 72hr, the euro doesn't really add much value. It's definitely not better in the short range.
Dr No
The NAM was a pretty good run in the upper levels, it's just it has a bunch of feedback issues as the storm attempts to bomb. It some times can get too cute with things. Notice the LP center at 36 and 42... how it basically "doesn't move" and gets strung out. 21Z RSM. Scummyratguy
Been laying low since switching over from easternwx, but i just need to vent that i cannot believe matt ritter on wgal in lancaster, pa just said we will likely get through these storms with only seeing a few flakes fly.... meanwhile state college nws discussion mentions possible sig snows for Lns and the 0z models scream snow... back to lurking. stormtracker
we're in the game! But we gotta know that of all the areas here, we have the highest bust potential being so far west and all...but it certainly looks good.
