MBY is luck so far as I have mostly been sleet (as you know sleet just bounces off the trees) with some ZR. Currently I have had >1/2" of sleet with ZR icing at <0.1" Temp IMBY is ~30F. michaelmantis Posted February 22, 2023 Share Posted February 22, 2023 The temp where I'm at in N IL is overing between 31/32. It's rain now, icing up on some areas. One of those situations where a degree down would make a huge (bad) difference. We look to be at the low for the day (31/32) and fingers crossed it doesn't drop a degree or two. Hoosier Posted February 22, 2023 Author Share Posted February 22, 2023 Whatever areas end up on the northern side of the freezing rain zone with little/no sleet will have the worst ice and tree/powerline impacts. Those areas may remain a tick colder at the surface than the southern part of the freezing rain zone, plus the warm layer aloft won't be quite as warm.
