butterfish55
Power was out in my neighborhood from 10 to 6:00 this morning. Filled the generator's tank and let it run all night. No issues. Feel for the dudes who had to fix the burned transformer and pole overnight....

If the region was theoretically calm under this airmass we’d be in the -30s and -40s. (Up here with pack anyway)

They hit -30 with still wind
Vinny Findley
-8.3 for the low wind chills 20 to 36 below. Currently at -7.1. Last night had a few wind gusts 46 and 48 mph. Scaffolding 5 stories high on a nursing home in Attleboro was blown down to the ground.

jbenedet
This doesn’t portend well for snow chances, going forward, in my view. The cold blows it’s load all at once. Unlikely we will see it when we need it; at least for a while. 1

jbenedet
13 minutes ago, Cold Miser said: lol. Not sure if that's how it works. Yea you aren’t sure. None of us are. And even where there is sound scientific theory, you should still never be “sure”. There is always uncertainty. But that doesn’t mean you cannot postulate. We can’t break it down empirically—at least not yet—, but my point is rooted in basic Newtonian physics: nature abhors a vacuum. Or for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. That mean reversion many were calling for, imo, happened all at once, and without a storm. Now work from that basis. 1
