Everyone sues everyone in this country. The rise and prevalence of that has put a huge damper on past practices.

Its also why school is cancelled so often now

I’m not sure this is the reason.  I mean that’s the same stuff we heard 30 years ago.  A successful lawsuit has to based on facts and actual damage that can be explicitly tied to what one party is suing some party for.  If half the scouts suffer real frostbite I think BSA can legitimately called negligent given the long time we’ve seen this extreme cold coming.  So moving it to a different weekend seems prudent.   Look when I was a kid we banged our heads, saw stars, got woozy, and kept going.  Many are  demented as a result.

Scouts is "Be Prepared" and nowadays Cub Scouts is "Do Your Best"   Greenfield is one of the few towns in MA that still have a decent size Scout program.
My son was the last scout in troop 9 northfield. He tried to work with greenfield/ hadley to eagle, he was unable to make it work. Tough to lead other scouts when there aren't any.

So instead of an "eagle project," he basically rebuilt the northfield scouts from the ground up. Recruited a whole pack of cubs and now they're going strong. The troop has been around for like 97 years. He wasn't going to lose it on his watch.

While the Greenfield troop may have the numbers, northfield has the infrastructure. Have you ever seen a scout troop with their own dedicated building? There is so much history upstairs and in the attic.

The 925s are impressive. If we can pull the -30 to -35 temps at that level, we'll mix them down with the CAA. With 925 heights around 725-750 m you can tack on about 7 degrees of warming to get it to the surface. That puts a lot of places in NNE -10 to -20 with winds 25 knots or so.

I would say a conservative forecast up here would be a low of -10 and 20 knot winds. That's a wind chill of nearly -37.

Last time PWM did -35 or colder was 1981.

So has the boy scouts motto changed from when i was a scout in the 60's? (be prepared) I guess it has, We did winter camp in adverse conditions to learn survival techniques, This era and generation is soft.

I disagree.   Our son (Eagle) did numerous winter camping trips and wilderness survival etc.   part of “Be Prepared” is “Don’t be stupid”.

So correct me if I’m wrong , but your saying that the euro/ Ukie/her 2 m forecast temps are basically akin to clown snow maps in this set up

maybe -7 Ash / -3 Bos ?

A little. But mostly I'm saying that in the absence of any other processes going on, just mixing down the forecast temps aloft (which should easily get done) it's still some impressive wind chills.

Funny thing happens when the Euro starts printing out record numbers everyone shrugs it off as nonsense. Hurricanes Harvey, Michael, 2015 Nemo etc etc to name a few. Here we go again as everything caves to the Euro

Don't care. When it's record territory I lean Euro every time. Yea like all models screws up the mundane at lead. Helluva lot more than 3 from 2 days ago. They cave in historic setups. We are talking record 850 territory and then there is this for those with snow OTG

Lean Euro and then it leans towards the other guidance. Looks all similar now. Remember when NYC leaned Euro for Juno?

I look more at the historical nature rather than the 50 mile shifts in qpf. We want a picture of you in shorts at 38 degrees Sunday though. Well them again we don't

I'm in shorts now. It had like -14 at BOS the other day. Now -9. I think Logan might be more -5 to -6 or so.
