Yea that’s what I have. That was an inside 48hr semi bust where we were supposed to get crushed with 20+ and after the first monster band came through in the morning and lifted north, it was crap snizzle for the remainder of the day. That’s the storm that deformed the catskills into NVT followed with some upslope. I think Stowe got 50” and people reported a weenie snorkeling his way to the mountain.

That was the deepest skiing of my life. I’ll still never forget the end of the day run down off the ridge. This photo went far and wide after that storm.  My track is on the side of my buddy here… but standing still the snow was up to your stomach.  You did not want to fall because it was like quick sand, you’d just drown with no firm bottom.

Good memory because that event was 40-50” when all was said and done.

Nice trip down memory lane, ha.

Yup for us snow weenies..we have these storms that touch us embedded in our memories.   Funny, just had a colleague text me and ask if I remembered Feb’13, cuz they couldn’t remember it. I laughed and said I remember everything about it. So I described/told them about the storm, and they were like holy shit…lol.

For me my top 4 here would probably be Feb ‘13, Feb ‘78, Jan ‘11, Feb ‘06.  April ‘82 was insane though too.  And Jan ‘96 was actually really good here too.

Top 4 storms here - memory starts vaguely with March 93 then my first real weather memory is Jan 96.

1. Feb 2013 30-40”

2. Jan 96 20-30”

3. Jan 11 multiple 20” storms

4. Tie Feb 06 + PD 03 both 20” here.

So five 20” storms in this area in 37 years. I don’t think there were any others from 85-96.  I believe we got 16” in March 93.

Probably about 10-15 other storms that were supposed to be in the top 4 here in the past 20 years that busted here but were top 4 storms elsewhere in the region.

The difference is I remember that one because I was so snake bitten from Jan15 that I tracked Mar17 like a damn bloodhound. My wife took a video of me praying two nights before the storm came lol. I wanted it to be THE one so bad and when it became clear it wasn’t, again, I can easily remember the details. I don’t remember it for being this great storm like you remember Feb13, unfortunately.

Yeah February 83 is up there but falls short of 2013.

1888 & 1978 for sure and 2011 for a different reason.

Anything pre-1950?

Mar. 1888, Feb. 69 (Lindsey Day storm; personal favorite since I had just had NWS teletype data drop line installed at my house), Feb. 78, Feb. 83, Feb. 13

1. Jan 96 - 26-28” in CNJ

2. Dec 10 - 24” in CNJ

3. Jan 11 - 22” in WCT

4. Feb 06 - 21” in NNJ

5. Feb 03 - 20” in CNJ

Jan11 I timed a visit to my then gf now wife in DXR lol. But I have yet to experience an 18+ event living in CT since I moved up here in July 11. Oct 11 was great in DXR obviously but I never measured above 16”.

Looking at my personal experiences, I think I'd go:

1) Feb 2013. It speaks for itself.

2) Oct 2011. I was working in gov and I saw firsthand just how destructive that one was.

3) Jan 2016 (DC). High impact event in DC, one of their all time greats.

4) Christmas 2002. Personal memories.

Honestly, nothing else is really memorable for me, but I spent significant time in SC and DC and was too young to remember the early/mid 90s.

But looking historically at CT, any list without 1888, 1978, and 2013 is fatally flawed IMO. It kind of tells me everything that there'd be near unanimous agreement on those as all time CT storms.
