If I were 17 and being active outside in 50 degree weather I'd be wearing a t-shirt too. True to a point, but the cold actually bothered me more when I was younger...its probably the extra R value in the body I'd love to look at records for temps. Honestly, many up here think it’s been a good month for outdoor recreation after the first week. Heating bills are low, good snowfall, snow cover, and no truly cold days keeping folks inside. Rotting in the 20s for like a week straight at times. Can’t pull off winter at +11 in any other month than January.

I think NYC has a shot at getting shut out for the whole winter. They'll probably record a coating tonight or even Friday with the arctic front. But otherwise the next 2 weeks look bleak. And after mid-Feb, even normal climo starts to become locally hostile for snow. As bad as it's been in SNE, it's been even worse to the SW.

The 4 Seasons
20-30% chance of >1" over the next 16 days for here in southern CT. Brutal. Most of SNE in the 20-50% for just an inch. During peak snowfall climo, doesn't get worse than this. Winter 01-02 continues... 1

There's so many "normies" that have been saying "we've had a really good winter" or "we've been very lucky this winter". For the vast majority of the population, probably >90%, that hate snow, these statements are true. But for us, myself included, this feels like what the average person would call SAD...it's just the exact inverse.

powderfreak
-11F at MVL. -10F at neighbor’s PWS. Radiators mount up. Some classic radiating that my heating bill is going to hate. It’s cold down here by the river. Whole valley is -10F to -12F but go just a couple hundred feet up and it’s near 0F. Classic cold air drain down to the river next to the golf course.
