January 22nd Winter storm threat

Saw some sleet at a lunar new year festival held outdoors. Good times.

And as far as qpf, it’s an underperformer. Good! If we’re going to rain at 38, I rather get 0.1” of drizzle… than get 2” knowing if it were cold enough we could have gotten 20”.

We got like an inch Friday night and now its either washed away or turned to slush in shaded grassy areas. Supposed to turn back to snow tomorrow. Just one of those crappy winters.

Planning to head up there next weekend. Looks like some upslope is coming after both storms. Hoping that holds

Yea looks like some snow for the weekend. The last three weekends havent been bad since every friday we get some upslope. then it gets washed away during the week! Skiing hasnt been bad, but nothing like a normal winter.

Lake is only barely frozen in the coves.

Good enough for us if that pans out. Wife is from Vietnam and only has seen snow once when we went trekking in Nepal, and my daughter is only 2. Just seeing snow on the ground will be an experience for both of them. We’ll take some nice photo shots if we can.

I’m home in Alexandria but weather station says 31 with freezing rain at the house. What a terrible winter even in the mountains.

Your bit of elevation helps. It’s 33.6 in MLP although we got 2.2 inches over the course of Friday thru early Saturday AM but a disgusting light rain and 33-34 all afternoon today. LWX is calling for 4” beginning with tonight’s passage and interested to see what the end of the week brings. “Prolonged” doesn’t mean significant.

Big beautiful mashed potatoes. Looks like there’s at least 1/2” on the ground too. The grass is pretty white. About to head to work and see what we got going on.

Nice! All surfaces covered here as well, except pavement. Not quite as much as you, you probably flipped to snow before I did.
