Maybe a shot at 4", which would be quite a win for us.

WE'RE SITTING JUST UNDER 2 INCHES SINCE MIDNIGHT AT OUR OFFICE IN ROMEOVILLE, WITH SNOWFLAKE QUALITY IMPROVING A GOOD DEAL OVER THE LAST HOUR OR SO (THEY WERE FAIRLY TINY UP UNTIL THAT, LIKELY OWING TO PRIMARY ASCENT/GENERATION REGION ABOVE THE DGZ). you can tell the talent pool over there is ready for some real wx to track
Radtechwxman
You Chicago folks and the LOT office look to get a nice wallop this weekend with that baroclinic rider. Kind of has that I80 north special look. So the talent pool should enjoy that at LOT

King James
Say what you want but waking up to snow still falling just before sun up is the best time for snow. That feeling of running to the window to check and see how much we got is still going strong after 38 years
TheRegionRat
Pleasantly surprised to see that LOT had 1-3 overnight and another 1-3 during the day. Overnight was definitely a lot closer to the one inch total than the three inches. We'll see how the day turns out. If the grass is solidly covered, I'll be happy. It's worth noting that the synoptics behind this are nuts: Strong divergence in the left-exit quadrant of a jet streak ahead of a sharp negatively tilted shortwave, with a zone of strong warm air advection and low to mid-level frontogenesis beneath this to help squeeze out precipitation: Temperatures will be at or perhaps slightly above freezing for most of this snow so ratios won't be great, but heavy snow rates with large flakes are likely to occur in any mesoscale banding that develops within the broader deformation zone on Wednesday. It would not shock me at all to see one or two bolts in that band as well wherever it sets up

The Ole Bucket
Folks who are getting the stuff that hit southeast MO overnight and into this morning (we're starting to taper).. you're gonna like it. Probably a good 5-6" here, WSW criteria actually verified for once!

Stevo6899
Nice banding in west MI out by grand rapids, definitly more north than modeled. They could see as much as the east side. The rates later are gonna be pretty neat with it coming in the daytime.

tuanis
Looks like the surface LP has crossed the Ohio River into southern IN. A lot of models had it riding south of the river through northern KY, so glad to see the system didn't crap the bed at the 11th hour. About 2" of wet stuff here so far... honestly it's more than I expected. Trees look nice with every branch caked in gloop. Hoping the upcoming pattern delivers some drier more mid-winter type snows.
Chinook
At my place, snow is covering the grass, mainly. Below: this SPC mesoscale discussion for snow is probably the only time I'm going to get a mesoscale discussion at my location for quite some time. 1
