Today is one of many, many examples of how much better these temps feel when the sun is out.  I have no interest in clouds and cold without snow.

In other news, the top of Gambrill clearly had some snow yesterday morning.  I did not expect that.  Amazing how much of a difference an increase in 500 feet in elevation can do.

So, in the wake of that low and front, we have a +6 yesterday and at least a +4 today.

+8.1 January.  Really good shot at a top-5 warmest January.  1 and 2 look out of reach.

yeah we didn't get enough absurd warmth (i.e. 70+ highs).  But we've got to be near some kind of record for highest monthly min (29F now which looks like it should hold) and fewest number of sub-freezing (< 32F) nights (so far at 3, we might tack on a couple more).

Best upslope setup for Deep Creek so far this winter.  Good for Wisp and Canaan heading into weekend ski business

The county is great at clearing roads….you’ll be fine.  If you’re staying at a rental through Taylor or Railey, they do a good job of clearing the driveways, especially for arriving renters.  We don’t rent our house but use Taylor for snow plowing, mowing the lawn, hot tub maintenance, etc - they’re good at keeping up.

For those coming to Garrett County, best winter day thus far. Intermittent snow falling now with winds IMBY gusting to 43 mph. Temp is 29.4 and has been slowly falling all night. Impossible to measure but eyeballing between 1/2 to 1 inch thus far. Rates look to pick up through the day with NWS forecasting 7” in Oakland. @Terpeastyou picked a good weekend!

A LOT of clouds out there on what was supposed to be a sunny day - the models always miss that on the day after a substantial rainfall it will nearly always be cloudy in the afternoon.

Yeah, these cloudy days are starting to be a drag here. Looks like more of the same for the next week. I need to get to somewhere sunny!
