That's a lot of work to do every season up north no less where the duration is so short. I thought it an accomplishment just to put a few flats of annuals in my garden, lol

bowtie`
Even though I am south of the palm guy, this is the best I could do from this afternoon. But this is cheating seeing how I just put a round of 12-12-12 on the lawn two weeks ago. Was only really feeding the roots with the phosphorus and potash but the few warm days even put the nitrogen to use and greened up the grass a bit.

michsnowfreak
With a handful of traces and only a dusting of snow in January, the last day with 1" of snow on the ground was December 29th. Technically not THAT long ago but it seems like an absolute eternity. So glad the light is finally at the end of the tunnel, hopefully the colder pattern produces for us all. weatherbo
Set a record at MQT: "With temperatures failing to fall below 31 degrees yesterday, the record for warmest January 16th low temperature at NWS Marquette has been tied, with the previous record being set in 1980." Light freezing rain most of the day and night has things pretty iced up out there... has since changed over to a misty snow. Could see a foot through the week.

And most of that water has nowhere to go since the catch basins in the streets are buried under mountains of snow from the plows. Gonna be real interesting if things freeze up quick the next couple of days.
Brian D
0.46" of rain yesterday. Turned to a very wet, light snow last night. Water logged snowpack with puddles everywhere. Just like March. When the pack refreezes, you'll be able to walk on it.
hardypalmguy
Palm tree weather continues. Getting pretty crazy at this point. I was kinda joking about this back in Early January and now it’s like what the heck is going on. Just put the shovel in the ground and can dig anywhere I want. Our avg high for the month has now pushed above 40. That 49/40 yesterday is crazy. And only one below freezing high all month. Two days of T snow cover! This is going to be hard to come back from this winter -- sun angle is only increasing rapidly from here. How are you going to cool/freeze the ground enough at this point? Unfrozen, bare ground will soak up solar energy much easier as the days continue to get longer.
sbnwx85
After such a fast start to the season in South Bend only 0.4" of snow has fallen in January. It's the 6th least snowiest start to the month on record. The season's total sits at 39.5" which is still about 8" above normal.
