With the overnight guidance showing a slightly slower arrival of the cooler air tomorrow, the probability that NYC will see its warmest January on record has increased.

We are definitely going to have a post-midnight high on Tuesday.

It's been close to 60 here all afternoon and bright and sunny, it will be interesting to see the splits when they come in.

Quite the zone. We were only 30 up here with light snow much of the day today.  (Yesterday it was in the mid 40s with Seattle light rain...highs went well above forecasted.)

Just watched Season 3 Episode 17 of Cheers.

The entire episode is sprinkled with scenes of the upper West side during a blizzard.

Why they used NY scenes for a Boston show, I dont know. Judging by cars and signage, it was early 80s.

I’m not the only New York weather buff that will find that entertaining

Serious question - with the incredible warmth, we've got bulbs popping through already.  Anyone have any feedback as to how to see them through this weekend's blast and the rest of winter so we still have a shot at a nice bloom come April?

Morning thoughts…

Early showers of rain, sleet, and snow will give way to variably cloudy skies. It will be noticeably cooler than yesterday. High temperatures will reach the upper 30s and lower 40s in most areas.  Likely high temperatures around the region include:

New York City (Central Park): 40°

Newark: 42°

Philadelphia: 41°

A short but sharp Arctic blast is likely toward the end of the week.

Normals:

New York City: 30-Year: 39.8°; 15-Year: 40.0°

Newark: 30-Year: 40.3°; 15-Year: 40.7°

Always 3-5 degrees warm. Even within 5 days.
