All kidding aside, it's always interesting to see the lack of any UHI when it's very windy, as the continuous convection whisks that heat away easily - pretty much the same temps everywhere, except well NW of 95, where there is some elevation. One with the Southerly LLJ and the other with the cold frontal passage. I feel like with most cutters we either have a peak with one or the other, not both In Long Beach at least the winds behind the front have been much more impressive. Winds ahead of the front were the 40-50 mph run of the mill variety. We definitely had some over 50 gusts behind the front. Down to 9 here. Here in SW Suffolk, the gusts associated with the LLJ peaked 50-60 mph in a brief window from 5:00-5:30 AM. They died down once the convective showers moved east. Then after the cold front from between 2-9 pm we had frequent 40+ occasional 50+ gusts for a good 6 to 7 hrs straight, which was honestly a bit more impressive due to the longevity of it (plus the massive temperature drop) I’ve been bottomed out at 8F for about 2 hrs now, about a 50 degree drop from this morning, still getting gusts in the 30-35 mph range. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
