Because there’s not enough of a record!  Thousands of years of climate and change…and we’ve been keeping records for what…150 yrs or so?  But we’re so sure that this hasn’t happened centuries before, or millenniums before. You’ll never convince me of it.  And when it was brutal cold in the 70’s what was that? Then they said a new ice age was coming Lmao. And when it starts getting colder again…maybe after we’re gone, or not, then what’s that?

Oh wait…15,000-25,000 yrs ago when we had massive ice sheets over the whole place…and then they melted over a period of a few thousand yrs, that wasn’t CC? Give me frieken break. climate is always changing…that’s the point. This shit bag winter isn’t CC.

I don’t want to get into it…cuz it infuriates me. It’s an agenda…period. It’s Woke to believe that shit now, so believe whatever the hell you want. I don’t believe it one bit!

Im out!

The physics behind CC are real. Maybe a lot of the attribution gets sensationalized and worst case scenarios given too much credit but I assure you that CC is real.

Real for now Will..till it’s not. Even you can’t convince me of it. It’ll snap back the other way again at some point.

And It’s not what folks claim it is…that’s for sure. It’ll be snowing here long after we’re gone…bet on it.

Im cool with it now. It’s a shit bag winter. Sometimes that’s just what we get. Been a shit bag winter in the west for many yrs, now they’re making up for it! Good for them. That’s how it all goes. But hey CC is an easy target. Not buying any of that BS. Please, don’t try to convince me otherwise…never have drunk that cool aid.

Too early to say for sure. Slow start sure but it’s only early Jan.

I hear ya. But resigning myself it’s a non starter. If it changes, I’ll be pleasantly surprised, if not, I’m already prepared.

I’ve lived through this through most of the 80’s…this is what would always happen. It’s eerily familiar, and not in a good way.

Just hoping Far NNE where I sled can get some snow soon(I think they will being 550 miles from here), so I can get some snowmobiling in soon.

You gotta go way far north. I'm in Bretton Woods and there is not much natural snow. You probably gotta go Pittsburg and on North

It could be worse. You could be in Bozeman MT where they just pulled a -24/-45 day that was 54F below normal and then they had a couple of rain events a few days later. This F6 cracks me up whenever I see it.

I agree with that.

But like I said, nobody will convince me this hasn’t happened before, or will happen again.  It’s a cycle. It’ll eventually go the other way too.

Anyway, the beauty part is everyone can believe what they want. I don’t want to derail this thread. Wood chopper Ken asked, and I gave him my feelings. No worries either way. I’m not worrying about any of that nonsense.

I just need snow in N. Maine.

That’s crazy, but at least they put up 14” that month. We’d see dancing in the streets here with a double digit month at this rate.

I’d love to experience that kind of cold someday.

It’s not that it hasn’t happened before. It’s that human influence is enhancing this and accelerating it.

There have always been cycles, but there is no question that this warming on athropogenetically enhanced.

It’s all good boys. I’m not a believer, and that’s that. It’s not gonna make any difference for any of us anyway. So whatever.

I mean, he’s not wrong. It’s sucked and the foreseeable future doesn’t look great either.

If we wind up for another massive cutter on the 14th, I’m out on this winter.

So now we’re on the same page.  I needed a good month to see the whites of its eyes. But I won’t complain after this.  It is what it is.

I have a cabin rented in N. Maine for Jan, Feb and March…just need them to get some snow at some point. And they will. I get your vacation plans…but if the snow doesn’t work, just go have fun with your wife and friends anyway.

You switch from Mr. optimism to Mr pessimism quick.

I’ve had enough now. I lived through the 80’s, as you did, this is eerily familiar as I said before. Back then it was always something, Always, that would sabotage a potential. And here we are again.  Sure there were a few good ones over the decade….but it would always be something to kill a threat.

The expansion of the Hadley Cell like Tip talked about is a threat to humanity as a whole. This year in particular the Hadley Cell seems to have expanded to levels never seen before. While there is only 150 years of recorded data, we can extrapolate farther back via fossil analysis and by studying ice cores. While you are correct that the climate is changing naturally, the data suggests that biggest driver (>90%) of climate change is caused by humans. Even if you think it’s not making any difference for us (I would argue it’s already made a big difference for us and will continue to do so) what about future generations? Im as big of a weenie as anyone, but this is much bigger than just how much snow we will have in our backyards decades later.

I have to laugh reading comments from several of you ( although there are a select few who I've come to be respect where you are optimistic, but also realistic ).

I don't know any of you, and I'm not trying to get in your circle ( frankly, with some of the responses to my posts, I really wouldn't want to be in that circle anyway ). With that said.. there are a bunch of hypocrites on this forum. It's like watch Jekyll and Hyde.. lol

Regarding this threat for next weekend, no one has a crystal ball. Are the chances higher that it will be a miss or a rainstorm, yes. The weather pattern we're in is really not all that conducive for real winter here in the east. But, there is a chance that this can work out for a lot of us.

I'd love to fast forward to next Friday....
