Longwave pattern is really just showing where the general above normal and below normal heights are. We cannot discern from those maps how individual shortwaves will behave. So we typically like seeing ridging out west and into AK and troughing in the east…or ridging over Greenland/NAO region. You can see from the map that Brooklynwx99 posted, the height pattern is quite favorable for us. We like that look for trying to get snow events in here. We know this because of past years with similar looks and they tend to produce more often than not. The Rec Path is annoyingly busy ha. Like a spring afternoon.Rubber band..it’ll bounce back. It’s northern Vermont, right. We still have plenty of epic days ahead this winter. LongBeachSurfFreak Posted January 1, 2023 Share Posted January 1, 2023 Leaving Vt today snow retention was surprisingly good in the valleys. But above 2,000’ it’s toast. CAD for the win. The big issue for the mountains is having to start over with snow making. Even snow making trails were struggling. tavwtby Posted January 2, 2023 Share Posted January 2, 2023 as fate would have it for me this season, I'm leaving for an extended period for work in Florida on the 14th, right around the time things look to be lining up nicely, I've missed nearly every flake this season, and still have yet to use the new blower...ugh, at least my dad has taken the skywarn class, so he's capable of accurate measurements if anything falls on the snow table...
