Eversource is expecting extended delays due to lack of lineman. This thing hit the entire Eastern half of the country. Out of state lineman at a premium.

CMP called in a number of crews from other states last weekend as they had something like 118k in the dark.  Then CMP looked at the forecast and paid those crews to hang around until this event.  Nice to finally see some intelligence back at CMP - they were heroes in the 1998 ice storm but zeroes in the past few years.

Yeah western slopes already getting 40mph gusts well in advance of the strong LLJ.

Up this way this is a prime home station to watch, owned by a NWS member.  Gusted 39mph past half hour.  They come right off Bolton Valley area down to 800ft elevation.

Snowing outside in Stowe, maybe an inch?

Green Mountain Power crushes it down here.  Power was back in 2 hours even during peak winds last night.

Interestingly, only gusted to 29mph on roof mounted Davis after power went out. (peak was 39mph).  Probably had 10 windier downslopes events in the past 3-4 years. Seemed like peak winds were in the far western part of SVT more removed from the tucked in Western slopes. Almost off the Taconics it seemed or further downwind from the Greens Spine--at least down here.

CMP reporting 37,000 no power

Including here: genny kicked in at 7:28 - seemed a bit odd as winds here are modest, maybe G20.  Had 1.2" of mostly IP (0.35" LE) but now it's moderate RA at near 32 but no accretion.

Looked again at Isle Au Haut and they may get gusts to 80.  Several other sites in the general area have G75 forecasts.  Isle of Shoals was 48/57 kt at 7 AM.

Should see a pretty nasty low topped line move across Connecticut and points northeast early afternoon. This could produce some very nasty wind. Power outages will likely climb.

I'm kicking myself hardcore for poo-pooing the winds on here the past few days with this AM round. While the lapse rates weren't great, there was some pretty decent CAPE being modeled. ughhh
