At around 12:30 we had 11". I saw a couple miles north of us reported 15" and the Gray office reported 6.3". Its been rain, snow, freezing rain since and the pack is all of 5-6" now.

Took a drive to grab some junk food and the roads are freezing up fast. I was being careful and still slid past our driveway. Hope people realize and stay off the roads tonight.

My sister said a dusting in York but I saw 4-5 inches in the Old Orchard Kennebunk area.

Except the power is out here in Wardsboro day 3. GMP had not done a great job on this one.

This was larger than normal power outage throughout SVT and CVT.  Im guessing you are probably pretty isolated in the backwoods by the looks of it? They take care of us city folk first..lol.

What was your highest when you lived  in Kinnelon nj ?

Probably Feb 3-4, 1961.  I call in 24" but with the howling wind who knows.  That storm, plus the 20" on Jan 19-20 and a string of very cold days, brought the pack into the mid 40s - Canistear Reservoir reached 52".  We also had 24" on Mar 18-19, 1956 and Mar 20-21, 1958.

Exactly, they had 30 back on relatively quick. My place is still out and the tree is still on the wires. I pumped the fireplace hard both nights. Heading back to Long Island now. If I was a full timer up here I would own a generator

I was up in Heath visiting friends today and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger snow gradient than what we saw this storm.

there is 16 to 18 inches at her house which is about 1200 feet elevation. Half of that or less when you drop down to about 900 foot elevation.

Big east to west gradient also.  Heath and West side of Colrain had similar amounts but when I got into MPM‘s old neighborhood it was probably half the amount of snow.  Similar elevation just big gradient.
Same thing with Dave and Whineminster and Subdude.  I think they are all at or above 1000’  but were  not even close to the totals at the same elevation in western Franklin County.

We ending up getting 20.6 inches at home.  We lost power and phone late on Friday and they are still  not back on.  (No generator but we will certainly be looking into one).  The texture was very wet and moisture laden as we were in the 32-34 degree range for the whole storm.  We lost at least 4 small trees and one large one but I haven't gotten up into woods to inspect yet.  Our street is lined  with pines and birch for miles and there were at least 5 large trees on top of the power lines.  Hopefully we get power and heat back today.

I think this is my first storm above 20" since Jan 1996

Very difficult forecast for this past weekend's storm turned out pretty well, with the notable exception of the hills of northeastern CT, southern Worcester county (3-6" forecast probably should have been 1-3") and the lowest terrain of the CT river valley in Mass, where 3-6" was forecast and some areas received under an inch. However, the general 1-2 feet with isolated areas of over 2' verified well across the higher terrain to the north and west. The hills of northern Worcester county and northwestern CT also worked out.
B+ effort.

That's sweet. Hopefully they can hold on to it in this upcoming weather cycle. Bretton Woods is going to get nuked, unfortunately, and there doesn't seem to be much upslope if any to follow. At least there's good grooming lol. Feel bad for the masses coming up for the holidays...

Snowfall totals in CT and the tri-state area.

Forecast wasn't great at all. Most got what they expected which was little to nothing but for the areas we forecasted accumulating snow it was signifcantly less than we expected. Only the areas in far northern and northwest ct at elevations greater than 1100/1200 feet got plowable or warning level snowfall but still less than we forecasted.

Final Grade: D+

This is one of the first times in almost 20 years being here I have seen an elevation storm in N ORH county where places like Princeton at 1300’ got basically shut out. It doesnt seem common to me at all. T

Yeah such a contrast is rare, but having a few inches at elevation while just down the hill there is 0 isn't that uncommon in early or late season.
