Are we thinking 2 hour delays for school systems tomorrow?

.

I suspect Frederick County will close tomorrow due to the expected icing along the Catoctins.  Myersville, Emmitsburg, Sabilasville are usually the areas of concern that drive the whole county decision.

I hope I'm wrong though

I am suspecting yes. I am in SW Frederick Co and even if we get a lighter effect down here the N and NW parts of the county will be why.

I suspect the western zones in Fairfax, Prince William in NOVA will drive decision making

In theory yes, but I’m skeptical that Fairfax will decide based on temps/ice out here in the hinterlands. There was one event last February where we had early morning ice and 31-32 degrees but much of the county was just wet. I don’t recall that leading to a delay.

That said, I think tomorrow will most likely be a delay.

Tertiary roads are wet with brine now. They also brined up the neighborhood road going to the local grade schools. That isn't a bad idea, to be honest. That road is all hills.

I get trying to keep roads safe but this brine stuff is gonna ruin our watershed over time. I’d almost prefer they go back to sanding as it happens

I know you said "sanding" instead of salting, but still an interesting piece on the issues with salting vs. brining.
