I just looked where Simsbury is-and your sig has you at 100 feet.   So in summary you may get some snow-certainly more than us in the east but expectations beyond an inch seem like a stretch.  We miss you here Jay-put your foot down and head up north to live next time!

I am in a great location though. Yes my elevation is lower. But I am between two big elevation changes to my west and east, luckily not much further south.

Wait-you’re shadowed my mtns on both sides?  That doesn’t sound ideal for snow amounts.   Kevin laid it out but good luck anyway!

Sounds good for retention but pretty terrible for orographics on heavy precip.

I’ve been thru that area many times for work and kids sports over the years. After a screamer they often have 3-4” of total frozen  crust . But it’s a bad spot in winter storms .. particularly coastals . He’s bounded by Talcott Mtn on one side and NW hills on other . Right along Farmington River .. in thst valley

posts about what needs to break right for the most snow

Must be your first time on here.  No one on any of the forums back to WWBB and EUSWX have ever discussed what would need to happen to get higher winds, more rainfall, more damage, more ice, more snow, hotter maxes, colder mins or any number of more extreme outcomes.

Everyone comes here to discuss how to get the most mundane outcomes possible.

Final fall leaf mow up complete. So nice knowing no more yard work for season. Amazing  how green lawns are. High if 38… it was frigid on the tractor even in full winter gear. Today we green , tomorrow night we whiten

You need to move up the street.  Better elevation.

Always appreciate his detailed meteorological analysis. Really adds a lot to those wishing to discuss weather.

Hey Neighbor! My shop is in Simsbury,  live in Westfield.  Simsbury us an interesting area. I've seen many times over the years where we can have fairly significant snow vs just over the ridge in Bloomfield.

Simsbury is the valley floor. So not a great snow spot . That particular area does extremely well with CAD. In fact , one of the best in the state. Many times they retain snowcover while 95% of the state is bare. Similar to Hippy’s area.

Many times Simsbury is a better snow spot than you'd expect given the elevation. There's something about the ridge just southeast of town that seems to be the difference between downtown Hartford weather and more of the northwest hills. Also like you said...great CAD spot!

Who averages more snow?? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Literally one of the snowiest portions of the state. Yes, I could be in a higher elevation. But this is one of nicest towns to commute to Hartford area from imo. The little bit of snow sacrifice is worth the civilization. I guess I'm not a category four weenie.

I've seen that map before and is probably done by a 12 year old that was coloring in spaces.. not even close to being right
