westhope84
Incredible winter scene outside here in Tulsa. Bursts of powder dancing around in the cruel wind. This is the scene I hope for near Christmas Day each year. What a gift! May you all feel that childlike wonder today.
The Waterboy
Any chance the current snow in Tulsa is lake effect off of Lake Oolagah? Kinda looks like that on radar.

rockchalk83
We're down to 1/8 mile vis here in Wichita, heavy snow, blowing snow, fog. -5 with a wind chill of -32. North winds to 50 mph, but we've gusted higher. The -32 wind chill is the lowest reported value here since 2000. First snow squall warning issued for our area this morning. We won't verify a blizzard in all likelihood, but this has been one gnarly ass storm.
StormChazer
More snow squall warnings going out just to the north of Tulsa. Have to watch the back end of this system to see if it swings into Tulsa.
JoMo
Quote * At 919 AM CST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line extending from 3 miles south of Howard to 7 miles north of Grainola to 4 miles west of Geuda Springs, moving southeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Extremely poor visibility in snow and blowing snow. Wind gusts greater than 35 mph. Crazy.
NWAflizzard
I could be wrong but I don’t think I have ever seen Tulsa issue a snow squall warning before. Shows just how strong this system is.
ChesterfieldRIC
I wonder if this will hold it together long enough to make it to OKC or is it moving straight east?

stormdragonwx
Looks like some mesoscale banding might be setting up with this snow squall. Appears to be back building across N OK. https://radar.weather.gov/?settings=v1_eyJhZ2VuZGEiOnsiaWQiOiJuYXRpb25hbCIsImNlbnRlciI6Wy05NS4wMzYsMzUuOTgyXSwibG9jYXRpb24iOm51bGwsInpvb20iOjcsImxheWVyIjoiYnJlZl9xY2QifSwiYW5pbWF0aW5nIjp0cnVlLCJiYXNlIjoic3RhbmRhcmQiLCJhcnRjYyI6ZmFsc2UsImNvdW50eSI6ZmFsc2UsImN3YSI6ZmFsc2UsInJmYyI6ZmFsc2UsInN0YXRlIjpmYWxzZSwibWVudSI6dHJ1ZSwic2hvcnRGdXNlZE9ubHkiOmZhbHNlLCJvcGFjaXR5Ijp7ImFsZXJ0cyI6MC4yNCwibG9jYWwiOjAuNiwibG9jYWxTdGF0aW9ucyI6MC44LCJuYXRpb25hbCI6MX19

StormChazer
Looking forward to seeing the totals to see how accurate the kuchera Vs 10:1 ratio faired. I’d say here in north Owasso, we probably got 2-3 inches, but it’s hard to tell since it’s wind blown. Overall, I’m happy. I think up here we will get a “white Christmas”. Doramo
I got brave enough to go outside to measure snow depth....2 1/2" . Snow is tapering off a bit currently but still coming down . We may end up with 3" or so if snow continues 'till after 4pm like weather service is saying ......WHITE CHRISTMAS at last! How is everyone else fairing? Wx 24/7
One other note... GFS was waaaaay out to lunch on this system for our area. ICON seemed to handle it best from what I could tell. JoMo
Chance for a snow or mix in some places Monday morning and then the warmup begins. Doesn't look like any more snow chances until sometime next year.
