i’m not sure one day really qualifies.

I mean, I get his point.  Hasn't been completely dry but there hasn't been that much snow either outside of the lake belts.  Not that we should have a bunch of plowable synoptic snowfalls by this time.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald type storm. As far as synoptic snow systems go this seems fairly typical for November. Areas NW of LOT like MSP and even MSN get theirs first. Realistically start looking for snow possibilities 1st week of December. Assuming of course the La Nina forecasts of above normal precip for us are realized.

South Bend is currently in its 35th snowiest month ever at 30.2 inches. It's the 2nd snowiest November on record. The snowiest November was in 1977 when 30.3 inches fell.

Here's how much more snow we received after the top 5 snowiest November's on record in South Bend (I'm not counting March because that's Spring). Normal for those months (November-February) is 56.5 inches:

1977
November - 30.3"
December - 33.6"
January - 86.1"*
February - 16.6"

Total - 166.6"

*Snowiest month on record in South Bend.

1951
November - 23.4"
December - 30.7"
January - 12.7"
February - 2.4"

Total - 69.2"

1976
November - 21.6"
December - 37.6"
January - 37.2"
February - 13.9"

Total - 110.3"

1911
November - 20.5"
December - 12.5"
January - 14.0"
February - 12.5"

Total - 59.5" (Lots of missing data)

2014
November - 19.1"
December - 0.2"
January - 22.1"
February - 36.2"

Total - 77.6"

Snow showers/squalls in the area much of the afternoon/evening today, but much of it missed ORD and home.

.

Had additional scattered snow showers at ORD and home, Friday and Saturday.

They amounted to 0.1" on Friday and a T on Saturday at ORD, and a dusting both days at home.

DTW hit 16F overnight b4 torching up at 45F and sunshine this afternoon. Surprised at the amount of snow that survived. Several days at or below freezing packed a punch on soil temps.

Also, severely diminishing Sun angle.

Matching on 2014, 1951. Two of the others were in 1966 and 2000 which was the record holder.

Top five in order are.

2022

2000

2014

1966

1951

Most know about all of them except perhaps 1951-52. Which was a decent here with around 80. Both 2000 and 2014 had two other big months and that was it. Dec 2000 50+ and Feb 2015 40+.. 66-67 was front to end except Dec kinda sucked.
