The station in the wildlife refuge is near the bottom of the valley and it radiates like nothing else. On clear and calm nights it’s often significantly lower than surrounding stations. I don't ever recall seeing trees with mostly green leaves and those with a few branches which have already turned red. Usually the whole tree turns at the same time. Wind picked up after midnight and the temperature spiked on 3 occasions to almost 36 and then settled back to 32 each time. Still a nice coating of frost. Crystal blue skies this morning 10/10. Isolated frost which was unexpected, certainly not something you have seen this early in the season the past few years. Fall weather galore, with maybe a good rain event via a coastal storm thrown in. I suppose another way to look at it is- what a damn waste in October.
