My Tampa community leaders just got the news that the hurricane might come in this direction so I am seeing lots of text alerts urging citizens in low lying areas to evacuate..  I suspect much of this will fall on deaf ears.  It’s a nice day out and people are more focused on the Bucs game

This just sort of feels like it's going to be quite an issue for the Tampa area.  Maybe it won't be "the" one, but "a" one that could be remembered for a while.

This latest cone with it being a major just barely off the coast of the Tampa Bay Area will catch peoples attention if it hasn’t already

So far it’s been “we need to get ready but it’s probably not going to be a direct or bad hit,” now it’s sinking in that it actually could be significant or worse.  
 

And in Evac Zone A here it’s literally a “sinking” feeling

It's a double edged sword. If it slows, the winds could weaken but the wind field expands and the flooding rains and surge are horrendous. If it moves fast, it could bring major hurricane winds into the peninsula.

Getting to the point the main thread is getting confusing… 2 post says Tampa doom and gloom, than the next Tampa completely safe, than doom and gloom and than 2 more saying it’s gonna completely miss and go way west.

When that happens it usually means a generic gusty rainstorm is most likely outcome

Yea in a span of 6 hours we have gone from devistating major Hurricane gonna drown the Bay forever to, hopefully I get some rain for my garden… safe to say the Pirate Guardians of the Bay come through again

I can't help but notice how much more prominent Cape Coral is on maps these days, even on RadarScope. When I was there many moons ago, I remember it being a big deal that Cape Coral got it's name on an I-75 exit sign.

That’s because the board is littered with shit posters and wishcasters. You can tell whatever trend is bad for Tampa, that’s what some will point to — whether it be east or west.

The people who deny any possibility of something bad happening in Tampa are pretty annoying too.

They have past history/climo to help support them.  But climo loses sometimes.

Well whatever happens I’ll be riding it out here in Lutz/Land o’lakes area. Just stocked up on sandbags for the patio today. Should be an interesting next 72 hours one way or another.

I hope Tampa gets crushed. The hubris is just so overwhelming. That said, I was just talking at the sesh about how I’d give it 15% or less if I had to toss out a probability.

Interesting take.  If it's going to miss Tampa it seems like the higher probability would be west, but we're at the mercy of the models so what looks more likely one day can become less likely the next.
