that mushy slush is going to freeze up solid on the slopes. scary stuff

Patrol ended up closing top of Spruce Peak due to ice and conditions. Nothing you can do when it drops 30 degrees fast and goes from 40F to 10F.  Unless you take a groomer out at 1pm, it’s just done for the day.

that blows for the paying customer. I had the opposite on Weds. started out the day with nice firm conditions with perfectly groomed trails. after lunch it got a little soft, then by 2pm when it was 50, it got mushy and not so fun. left a little early, but had a freebie ticket so I shan't complain

Been some good model runs lately. If we can stay on the right side of the boundary, we should be just fine into early March. Could be quite the line between the haves and have nots of the New England ski areas.

.

Wunderground has me with 23” between now and Tuesday the 28th. I choose to believe the have a near 100% accuracy record.

Well, only an inch of sparkles fell. But, man those flakes did a nice job of making it feel like a true Feb day

Pic may not capture the ice on the branches, and it may not be a perfect winter, but it hasn’t lost it’s flavor for adventure out there

Well said. That’s been the vibe most of the winter to be honest. Been an adventure of a season. Great post.

Winter Storm Watch hoisted by BTV.

Expected Snowfall - Official NWS Forecast

image.thumb.png.a020799f231aa973bb6cb470ab161275.png

Yeah, I saw that I got a text alert about the Winter Storm Watch early this morning, and it looks like it covers all the BTV NWS County Warning Area.  Graphically, it looks like we’re in the 8-12” and 12-18” zones here along the spine, and the point forecast has us at 8-14” through Thursday.  There’s more snow in the forecast for Thursday night and Friday, but they’re not putting numbers to that yet, and it’s outside the Event Total Snowfall map anyway because that ends at 4:00 P.M. Thursday.  It sounds like there are still potential adjustments to be done though, so we’ll see how the accumulations forecast changes over the next couple of days.
