SnowGoose69
Environment Canada seems to have ended their TAFs for SI effective 12z...was interested to see what gusts they'd put in there. They have 75kts at Charlottestown from 05z. Hawkesbury has no official TAFs
jm1220
On the satellite you can see the beginning of the tug back to the left in the direction of the high clouds. They seem to be backing to the left somewhat already.

Fiona's easterly component of motion is expected to stop in the next 2-3 hours per 12Z GFS as the phasing with the trough starts to pull it north. dan11295
Hmm the 18Z track guidance on tropical tidbits is now east of NS? That would be a notable short term bust. As mentioned before Fiona has been east of Guidance for a while now.

This isn't just a little influence... it's a robust interaction/phasing between the trough and Fiona. How come some troughs can "kick" a storm out to sea as oppose to phase with it like Fiona and Sandy? What is the difference that determines these two outcomes? ron1660
Trough orientation. Negatively tilted= capture.

So basically if a storm and trough are running parallel to each other then they will phase and if they're perpendicular to each other then it will kick it OTS? gymengineer
The 18Z GFS is still showing the “yank” NNW to place the center just south of the NS coast.

Conditions gradually deteriorating here with heavy rain and a relatively light breeze so far. Not much bandwidth to stream. If there's something streamable I'll try to do so. Pressure down to 994.5mb. 3

Judging by the radar a bit of west movement now? Sandy was 945mb at landfall, looks like those insane model runs in the 920s-930 will be right. Yikes.
