WxWatcher007
We're all Atlantic focused, but this deserves a thread. Getting bona fide tropical impacts in southern California is rare, but the potential is there as Category Two Hurricane Kay weakens as it skirts the Baja California coast before "recurving" out to sea. While there's a fair amount of consensus on the guidance about the track, the rate of decay and proximity to land are still unknown. Discuss.
Boston Bulldog
An anomalous ridge+heatwave meets an anomalous Hurricane. Quite the week for southern California
Hoth
I believe a major heatwave also preceded the 1939 Long Beach storm, too. Interesting.
Boston Bulldog
Having now crossed the 26*C isotherm, Kay's core is predictably beginning to degrade. While it may not have reached it's full intensity potential, the moisture envelope remains as impressive as modeled and is beginning to push into SoCal on WV imagery
Chinook
HWRF model version of Kay (6 hour forecast). The NHC has this at 75 knots/85 mph

Voyager
So far 0.37" here in Sun City, AZ (northwest Phoenix metro) since sunset. I was surprised to see this much from her, but I think we get more as it's storming and pouring again as I type this... 1

Radar based rainfall estimation shows over 3.5" to maybe even 8.5" of rain on the east slopes of the coastal range east of Tijuana. 3
