Nothing says crap roads like a foot of snow followed by multiple days well below freezing. Very very true for sure. Shoot I may not want to leave lol. 2
Met1985
The shortwave is digging deeper this run.
Met1985
Looks like another good hit for us.
Met1985
The upslope factor with this run is very impressive especially with the extreme high ratio that this backside snow would put out.
BooneWX
Impressive deepening off the coast. If it can crank that any sooner than what the GFS showed, somebody is getting blizzard conditions in the Carolinas.
Met1985
A solid event from the 00z gfs. 2
Met1985
The storm after Christmas just misees phasing. We get some light snow but that's about it. But we have plenty of opportunities for chances of snow.
Met1985
I spoke too soon about the third system. It phases but late. We still get some snow from it as it deepens off the coast.

It's possible for Blizzard conditions even as is with the strong Arctic winds and heavy upslope on backside if it comes to fruition. Man , if timing is right, some of our major snowstorms come when Arctic fronts have just came thru as a Storms rides up that front. If that happens, Hammer time!!!
Met1985
Again the biggest takeaways are it's getting cold, going to get colder then get bone chilling cold and we have several opportunities for winter weather signals on multiple gfs runs.
Met1985
The overnight euro was very lackluster but the eps looked colder and had a better snow mean than the ep euro.
Met1985
Another good hit by the gfs for us for the 23rd storm. It's doesn't phase and blow up but we still see anywhere from 4 to 12 itches of snowfall. The border counties really clean up. But listen this storm is a weak out. Keep expectations real at this point. All this is, is a signal.
Met1985
Threats for us on the 06z gfs big and small in my opinion. From flurries to nice totals is the 18th, 20th, 22-23rd, 25-28th....
Met1985
The gfs takes the Christmas system and makes it into a long duration event. Literally dumps about 2 feet of snow on the mountains. Just eye candy but a surreal solution for the Christmas day storm.

Met1985
In all seriousness it's one run. There will be several more changes to this storm and the pattern. Could the euro be right? Yes. But I don't think this is the final solution a week out.....
BooneWX
I’ll get toasted and roasted in the other thread if I say this, so I’ll say it here: the gfs is on an island but I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw the Euro have a correct solution at day 7 either. Last January’s storm, the gfs was completely on an island.
