Took ORH until noontime to reach 60F under full sun. Pretty decent airmass for mid-September....esp compared to the most recent 10 or 15 years (Sept has been one of the warmest months relative to avg)

I literally was thinking this.   Brings you back to the September's that I remember vs the ones with summer's hangover breathe still apparent.

We had some cold Septembers back then....they show up well on the time series:

Your coolest since we moved here in May 1998 is the same as ours, 2000.  However, Sept 1999 is our warmest at 61.1°, leading by 1.4°.  Only 2015 and 2017 among the others even topped 59°.  2nd coolest here was 2019, though not much below 2009, your 2nd coolest for '98 on.  9/99 had a stretch of warm/humid wx unmatched by the other Septembers, though it got hotter in 2002.  (9/9/02 hit 93, tied for the hottest day here, but the 30 on 9/1 is our earliest frost.)

64.4 at my new place, definitely running cooler than the old location in town.  Will have to see how that translates this winter for snowfall. The other spot was great for catching Noreasters where we were close to the edge, lots of minor ice events there, hopefully more snow/sleet here.

You move east?

The Euro still looks like it's fantasizing that trough amplitude across S-SE Canada D5 --> 6 ... Right on that relay seam, it seems to do that ...bestows anything in the field in that region with extra amplitude I can't really see where it comes from...

Hm, I may be wrong about that.   But I'm waiting for that to correct flatter.

No he must be up by Justice hill in Sterling...i don't think anywhere else is in town is high enough to be over 800 feet.

Ahhh, mobile mode. Can't see elevation unless I click. Well I would think moving higher would mean more ice. As 40/70 says the old days of thinking ice happens in valleys is no more, unless it's a SWFE that's turning to rain after a couple hours vs a cold drain scenario.

I experienced it differently

It looks like there was quite a change there in mid-July at BDL at least (only one I looked at).  He's not wrong that there was a change at least, I guess it's subjective to how people experience it.

But all mins were largely 50s and 60s leading up through the 16th of July.  Then starting on the 17th a clear stepwise increase in humidity as mins were 70+ every day after that.  There's a very clear pattern shift in there.

The old spot seemed to ice a lot, it was high compared with surroundings, and enough to ice in many events. It was a steep hill, just lower overall. changeover runs up from worcester quickly there. Will see how it turns out, not sure it will mean more ice but more winter weather for sure.

My guess is you get both a little more ice and a little more snow there.
