This is my fourth consecutive dud event.  I only received 0.11".  Since August 8th, I've only received 0.60".

This was what June and July were like here.  The switch finally flipped at the beginning of this month.  Grass is spring-green again, but there's still evidence of stress to some of the younger trees.

Up to just 5.5 inches for the month of August now.  Could have used some of this rain in June and July.  Evidence of the early summer drought is harder to find at this point.  Some trees are have patches of yellow/brown leaves.  More splotchiness with a lot of weed and crab grass in my yard as I hate watering.  I water my baby trees and flowering plants, but screw the grass if it doesn't rain.

Warm biased PWK was the only other location to hit 90+ (91).

Other than the notable heat around the solstice, it's been a pretty snoozeworthy summer from a temp perspective.  The Jul/Aug departures in particular are about as ho-hum as it gets.

As a few others have said, the heatwaves and increasing drought in May and June had you thinking a hot summer was on the way. But the persistent GOA/Pac NW and Hudson/Greenland troughing combo that developed in June really snuffed that hot summer idea.

I'm up to 107 mm of rain for the month, likely in the top-tier but since my records are incomplete I'm in the dark. The pattern of getting moderate rains and then sunny days spaced ideally maximizes crop growth. I can't recall an August that was this perfect for growing. Morning had a stray isolated shower pass over me then another at noon, followed by partly sunny and very humid. I missed the main MCS that rolled through MI/ON in the evening to the south.

August here in Two Harbors has temps/precip below avg at 63.9 (65.3), and 2.72" (3.48"). Precip is right about avg for the year now at 21.89" (21.42").

Summer was on the cooler side with 60.8 (62.1), and drier with 9.36" (11.76"). With the Lake being so much cooler this year, it had a big effect on temps here, and the weather pattern really helped it stay that way through the summer with so many cooler, drier nights. In looking at the data, we really didn't see a steady stream of warmer nights until mid August. The lower humidity allows for more cooling at night.

It was a different type of summer around here than what we’ve become used to the last few years. A lot more days with lower dew points allowing cooler nights. It seemed like we were never going to have summer dew points below 60 again after the last few years.

Indeed.  Here's the breakdown of the highs and lows, relative to average.
