I dealt with those kind of winters fine when there wasn't the internet in my life to feed my snow addiction. Worse thing that could every happen to me was to find out there were other snow nuts like me online... and weather models to F with my emotions and highs.

yeah me too. When the models show snow and run every 6 hours I don't get much done, or much sleep. Usually they take it all away though. :(

I have often wondered about that myself? Thus what difference/impact on my life would have it made had the net ( in present form ) was around back when i was in my late teens/20s? For me anyways i guess i was just too busy ( out playing-hitting the bars/clubs etc ) to notice? Even in the great winter of 95-96 back east i did not slow down with what was then my normal routine. Hell i turned on TWC at the bar if need be but i still went out etc! :pepsi:

This little system Wednesday night into Thursday could be somewhat interesting for the Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and points east folks. It's nothing huge, but still looks like a respectable system that could produce a long duration light to moderate snow for many of you guys. It's certainly better than nothing lol.

Yeah even though it's not showing a ton of moisture with it, it will be cold with this being higher ratio snows.

Sort of has the look of the type of system that seems to overachieve at the last second too. This reminds me of some of the NW flow type of systems we had around here last month, just placed further east here. Hopefully you guys will cash in with this. :snowman:

twc 24/7 - calling the phone companies weather forecast at all hrs, and the jokers on the news is what I grew up on at home until 18.. Then it was out on my own working, hunting/fishing/playing/bowling/drinking league 3 nights a week for the next 12 yrs and was not really interested in the forecast as much (of course was still addicted to the weather channel... Would be having sex and if I could make it through 2 locals on the 8's she was a lucky woman :weight_lift: ) seeing a new life was starting and that didn't involve playing in the snow all day and night when we had it growing up.

I've been online with winter weather going on 5 seasons now I think and my addiction to finding that next storm high is only getting worse. I've been trying this holiday week to ween myself off some seeing their was nothing but the usual holiday week grinch storm, yet I still found myself having to check the models at least at 12z and 0z just hoping it would show anything out in La La land.

Yeah and the difference this time around is the system will be strengthening as it moves East as opposed to weakening with those systems.

Finding you all and the models online has even wrecked any passion I did have for severe weather. For some reason my area that I grew up in as a child and to the area I've moved to about 4 miles NW has been void of any truly memorable severe weather. Now I have the attitude that its just destined to miss or fall apart before getting to me. And now I know whats coming most of the time before it even gets here which I guess is nice (but at least there was a mystery of whats to come somewhat without internet tracking and all of the wealth of information shared by posters here leading up to a event) when you're a severe sissy like me lol.

Yay for me! O, wait, it develops over me and becomes a sne bomb :arrowhead:

I blame it all on MSP coming home. That's normally a good thing when he is home, too. Just can't find any pinch of hope.

The 00z GGEM has the 498 dm thickness over LAF at 132 hours. Not bad, but I think it might be the only model showing that.

Wonder how many inches of ice that will add to the lakes! Maybe I can get more inches of ice on the lakes then I do snowfall this yr.. I do love me some ice fishing in March and april with temps in the 40's and 50's but that's a long wait. As long as we can stay cold I can have some peace of mind if it doesn't turn a little more snowy that folks that hate cold will be in just as much misery as me.

I'm not a big fan of severe weather, not after that F3 barely missed my area several years ago. Plus I guess it's because we get it all the time anyway. Snow is more rare. I don't know what it is about the snow though. It's great looking coming down and it makes everything look fresh and new and everything is a lot more peaceful outside.

You need to move to Indiana. We get snow, severe, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes.

Yeah, there's just something so cool about snow falling outside. I love how unless it's really windy, you can't tell there's heavy precip falling outside. You could have very heavy snow falling outside and never know it unless you happen to be by a window. There's just something so cool about that. At least to me lol. :guitar:

What did you get in the 5/31/98 derecho?

You're asking the wrong person lol.. But, I've never had damage to the house, yard or to anything in all my 35+ yrs in this small area of Milwaukee. I shouldn't say never because I could have forgot or never even really knew about some things back in the mid 70's through early 80'd I'll have to ask the parents tomorrow on what they remember being the worst storm they can ever remember going through Franklin. They have lived there almost 40 yrs now.

BOW, did you hear about the Bucks home game special? Whatever the low temp. is on the morning of Jan. 7th, the 37 dollar tickets are that price.

So, let's say the low temp. on Friday is 12 degrees. For the rest of Jan. the 37 dollar ticket prices will be reduced to 12 dollars.

Pretty damn good deal.

Thankfully it wasn't what the low was last night lol... Bucks and Brewers both have so many great deals for the fans. It's tough to get people out in the middle of winter to support what we have out there now.. Now back in the good ole days when Bucks basketball was awesome

Sounds like it'll be overpriced unless the low is -5 or something.

I don't even remember anything about that event. Couldn't have been too damaging where I was or maybe I was out of town. I would def remember winds like those I would hope... LoL at Racine and Kenosha. They normally steal my thunder.

Euro got me about excited as when I was growing up and asked what's for dinner and the answer was, Baby Beef Liver and Onions. Guess its just suck it up time and look forward to hopefully a better 2nd half to winter. Funny thing is.. If you lived on the east coast or SNE something could pop up at any drop of a fart.. Here, I'll be lucky if anything but my wood pops up in another 5 yrs without help from a pill :arrowhead: Bed time I thinks
