11 years ago in 2011 was in the middle of the all time record heat for many in the area.  I remember it being cloudy and 103 at home.

I was only an 11 year old kid but I remember that being the hottest day I’ve ever experienced, it was like 102 with a dewpoint of 75. Heat index was like 115-120

I remember back then going to a city pool in LES. It might as well of been hot soup. Warmest water I ever swam in. I been in upper 80s Gulf water and it was much much warmer than that. Parks dept hosing down the line to get in was the only cool water that day. Hottest experience I could remember until a very humid Aug some years ago. I think that's when JFK had a 84 dewpt.

I moved up to Patterson, NY last week and thankfully we have central air. A bit afraid of the first power bill. I figured I’ll get the best of both worlds up here. An okay commute to the city, snow in the winter (close to Thunder Ridge), lots of lakes to swim in, and beautiful falls! It has been very hot this week up here.

Tomorrow will destroy it

I'm in Jersey and the pjm interconnect has done well as they generally do.  I worked for a NJ utility for 5+ years.  It is very fortunate that tomorrow is a Sunday, given what is expected. IDK how all of the remote working has changed things since I left, but I'm thinking we dodge that bullet tomorrow.  Not sure if that would be the case if tomorrow was a business day.

Just combed through the data. 44025 reached a brief high of 29.1 degrees celsius or 84.4°F in 2016. 44025 never had water temps above 27°C (80.6°F) until 2016, it also happened in 2020 as well. This heat wave will bring them very close, top 3 for sure.
