Cfa
I got blitzed. For once I was in the very core and not just scraped/missed. Two hail cores. Hail was larger than pea size, closer to but slightly smaller than 0.5”, I rolled the window down to confirm it was actually hailing (because hail hates me) and hail flew inside the car, unfortunately I couldn’t get any pics as I was driving. It was sunny almost the entire time. I’d estimate winds gusted to about 50-ish mph for a time. Traffic lights were flying around and leaves were flying everywhere. Whiteout conditions backlight by sunshine. Very weird storm, didn’t see any lightning, just some strong rumbles of thunder. This is my 2nd ever hail event, both occurring this year.
Cfa
Plant racks at Home Depot flipped over, small and medium-sized tree branches down, tons of leaf litter. Winds may have been higher than 50mph, honestly. May have been a mini downburst of some sort. Lasted maybe 1:30 to 2 minutes. The one time I don’t have my Kestrel on me I get smoked.

jm1220
Drove on Portion Rd in Lake Ronkonkoma this evening, whoa is right. Had to take a detour since part of Portion Rd was closed, and saw numerous big limbs and a few trees down, along with power wires and the neighborhood entirely had power out. Part of Motor Parkway in Islandia was also closed. That area got whacked pretty good. Not that I’m any expert but it looked like a localized microburst vs a tornado but I’m sure Upton is investigating.

LongBeachSurfFreak
Had a much more mundane version of the Suffolk storm at my dads in wantagh. Brief wind gusts around 30mph and very small hail. meanwhile at my apartment in Lynbrook not a drop. Pretty cool watching the storms for on the Seabreeze front. Very Florida like. bluewave
The EPS, GEFS, and GEPS all begin to finally weaken the blocking pattern during the 2nd half of July. So the 50/50 low confluence that has been keeping us dry is set to relax. This means the 2nd half of July will be wetter than the 1st half. It continues to look like several surges of 95°+ heat between July 20th and 31st. The local warm spots may be able to make a run on 100°.
SACRUS
78/57 here. Clouds hanging around this morning. Pending on how much we clear out and get some period of full sun, temps may overperform forecasts but can just as easily under perform should clouds be persistent. Mid / upper 80s today and through the weekend with storm/rain chances Sat nigh (7/16) / Sun (7/17) and again Mon (7/18) night into Tue (7/19). Heat is on by Tue and through next Fri (7/22) shot at mid /upper 90s. As other mentioned if we stay clear the skies the limit on some potential record highs. Beyond there Sat (7/23) and beyond - looks overall warm and likely to increase rainfall and storm chances as humid regime builds in and the. Western Atl Ridge builds west and pieces of the western heat come east.
