I received a nice 0.88" of rain this morning from the back-building showers and storms.  A few timely rain events this summer have, so far, held off any drought.  A band of 2-4" fell from ne IA, through Dubuque, into nw IL.  Dubuque has really done well over the last couple weeks after having been one of the driest locations in the region earlier in summer.

Ended up with 1.12 inches here. At least the temp has warmed over 70 this afternoon. Was super concerned with how cold it was during the rain for mid July.

If only this was Winter.....

Already have 2.79" so far this month, though the majority of that was only during the 1st week of July. Are we just pushing for a record wet July at this rate?

Looks it'll be our turn later this weekend to experience what you're having today. Euro and GFS are apparently hinting the system to be Fall-like on Sunday with highs ranging from the upper 60s to the lower 70s. TWC has us down for a high of 75 on Sunday, JUST ONE degree above the record low maximum temperature set in 1925.

Yeah it was definitely a fall like system. NE winds with rain and temps in the upper 50s during the precip.

I picked up 0.71" of light to moderate rain that began yesterday afternoon and continued off and on through this morning, just what the agriculturist ordered, but now time to break out the mower.

The HRRR paints a dollop of 2" amounts over a few counties in North Central IN in the next 24 hours, which combined with last night's rain would fend off an increase in drought conditions, at least locally.

Wednesday has some sneaky warm potential locally, especially if the front were to slow down just a little.  Pretty warm 850 mb temps overhead at least through midday and possibly a little longer.  Although this isn't currently forecast, could actually see it outdoing Tuesday here.

Looks like the high was at least 79 already.

Widely varying amounts across Cook county.  1.99" fell at MDW (looks like even more just south of there) and 0.01" at ORD lol

Indeed

$$

Already just entered the 2nd half of July, and the rainfall total for this month is now 5.58". A bit early for an all-day washout. Columbus is already almost on its way to the top 10 wettest Julys.
