I think a great way to put it in perspective is that MDT had a stretch of 6+ 90 days just last year (7 of 8 days actually) along with one 5 day stretch and several 4 and 3 day stretches. The highest temp last year was 98.

The #dogdays of summer have arrived & are here to stay for awhile! We'll bake under 90+ degree heat through the weekend, & there's an ~40% chance the mercury cracks 100°F on Sun. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages & take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.

NOT!  (Highlighted)

MDT has still not passed 89.6.  That will be a frustrating 90 if that is where they top.  We have topped out at 86 and down to 85 now.

MDT appears to be at 90 solid now.

91 for the high here. Humidity is lower so it’s not horrible in shade. Thursday will absolutely suck.

The screen I am looking at could be wrong but still shows their high as 89.6.  Technically 90 but a weak one.  Just got back from tennis and frankly this was one of the best summer days I have ever played.  Humidity is sparkling.  Glad I got it in today vs. tomorrow.

CTP talks about drought in tonight’s discussion (along with HI near 100 a few days):

“Overall, very little rainfall is fcst through the weekend which /given the hot & dry days/ could lead to a further rate of change acceleration of D0 drought conditions over the CWA on a week over week basis. Last week, there was a ~30% increase in D0 conditions mainly over the northern third of the CWA. Heat peaks Sat into Sun with Heat Index values approaching 100F over the SE each afternoon before temps fall back closer to normal by Tuesday.“
