Missed nooners but 86 here right now.  MY 5th 90 seems unlikely.  Take a look at this Wunderground snip...much of southern York and Lanco still below 90 as well.

I miss the days of nooners as well...

12-13 degree difference across the region. Sort of unusual for a day like this I'd think.

That Southern York and Lanco area is consistently below the areas closer to the concrete jungles.    On sunny days it is almost a consistent.  That 78 is probably rain induced but the 85-89's do not seem as such.

A couple of hours ago there was actually a fairly impressive line that formed almost directly over I95 from PA down into VA...that station that reported 78 had rain. Like you said, that doesn't account for the other areas.

Higher terrain in those areas.  Higher than many people realize, and yes much more rural as you alluded to.

Yeah, I have noticed higher elevations have been quite a bit cooler, but that is normal.

.

It seems much more this summer for whatever reason.  We are sitting on 4 days of 90 or above at this point.   I am technically not in the LSV but areas of the LSV are to my North and West.  But how do we explain Dulles having some 5-10 less 90 or high days than MDT?

91 here at 7:30.

Record lasting warmth on tap. It feels like the hottest summer because the median temp has to be high despite record highs. If it never cools down, it doesn’t matter if it’s 10l imo. Here is CTP on record warmth:

Near-record overnight low temperatures are possible Tuesday
morning at Williamsport. The record warmest low temperature for
August 9th of 74F occurred in 1900. Interestingly, the low
temperature at Harrisburg on the same day in 1900 was 83F - the
warmest low temperature ever recorded at the site.

Although the magnitude of warmth at Harrisburg will not be
anywhere near any records, the duration of warm nights could be.
Harrisburg recorded a low temperature of 76F on Sunday 8/7. If
the current forecast verifies, the low temperature will be at
or above 75F for at least 3 days in a row (through Tuesday),
but possibly 4 days in a row (through Wednesday).

Here are some statistics about Tmin>=75F at Harrisburg:

Exactly 3 nights in a row: 6 times on record and as recently as
7/21-7/23/2022

Exactly 4 nights in a row: 8 times on record and as recently as
7/16-7/19/2013

5 nights in a row: 3 times on record and as recently as
8/10-8/14/2016.
