This is the first time I've seen such a discrepancy between the rainfall map, which shows 0.96 for me, compared to my rain gauge with 1.75 (yes it was empty before yesterday afternoon :P)

This product is usually dead on with my rain gauge. Zoom way in and you can click on your house and it will display the amount. It has 0.51" over my yard for the past 24 hours, and my gauge is reading 0.50".

.55 vs .43 actual here, but that’s still pretty good

Didn't a cold front supposedly pass with the pre-dawn thunderstorms? The DC area still has SW winds and DPs in the upper sixties.

The storms outran the cold front to an extent. The wind shift and following lower dewpts seem to be located near I-81 atm.

I tied the map again and zoomed way in - still 0.96.  We got waves of heavy rain in the afternoon/evening and I checked the gauge once we had a break and it was 1.1.  Then it was raining hard again later at night and I had 1.75 total.  Strange.  The map was dead on with the 0.23 a couple nights ago.

Props to @high risk for calling the rain along the front overnight. Tacked on more to bring my total to nearly 3”.

And somehow when the fire alarm went off at 1:30 AM for no reason,  the ground was mostly dry and it was windy.  Started raining again shortly after.
