ski MRG
Well, I am cautiously optimistic and really eager to see at least the NAM/GFS tonight. Won't make the EC, but I'll be up at 4:30 to catch that. Merry Christmas, guys. This would be a nice Santa gift. Merry Christmas Mike!! I'm hoping for the best but without the Euro I'm not completely sold. I have stayed as detached as is possible for me so while I'll be disappointed when the football is pulled out I won't have a hard landing. I'm getting the evil eye from the wife as I post from the x-mas party. If you never hear from me again you know what happened. Think Snow!! Long Live Ullr !!! Logan11
What if the exact position of the vortices doesn't make that much difference and this energy will have a tendency to pool up and phase in a certain spot due to the Upstream block regardless. Maybe more of a function of the greater long wave structure than whether a vortmax is 50 miles slower or faster. Look how different the NAM and GFS are and yet they both close off the 5H low and phase in the same general area. This strikes me as being one of those caboose type lows that form at the end of the wx pattern ...it all pools up, closes off, and then lifts out and the pattern is done..until reload later. Doesn't mean it's gonna be much outside of NE, but it just has that look to me.

CoastalWx
This is pretty incredible. My eyebrows are raised, but I don't see why we shouldn't stray from euro and ensembles right now. I guess (hope) 00z has an answer for us....maybe some sort of a compromise is in order. I haven't digested the 18z like some have, but that's my guess as of now. Clinch Leatherwood
When people reference that certain runs are the biggest of peoples lives, I think the next one here would fall into that category..........lol, Merry Christmas to you and your family...... Same to you and everyone else. I think for us long as this one doesn't kill our chances later runs will be the most important. If this one does us in to the east...then I agree I have no contentions regarding what you said; just hate hearing it.....though I know what will happen. I wouldnt worry about it. I have no idea what it means. There are bits and pieces nailed by the models, other pieces not so good but they have a way of appearing more dramatic. The NAM botching the energy west of Missouri is kind of a problem. The GFS s/w structure and ND too. But huge? We shall know soon. how does this compare to what the euro is doing? No idea, I don't have access to the vorticity maps and I'm more interested in seeing what's wrong with the big hitters. Thing is even with the NAM "error" even the RUC amps it up as it dives SE later. IE....sure there are some errors, but are they really that far outside the 6h? I really don't know. NCEP says yes. Did we see the EC Ens? How were they compared to 0z?

Appreciate whatyou are doing....kinda cool to have to break it down using the old school tools.
