For once, if you live in Colorado (per CAPE's update) - discussions of sun angle are entirely appropriate...

Yes only 10 days from June, sun angle is undeniably an 'issue'. But alas we will see hand wringing over it around here next February(as usual) should there be a threat of snow.

let's play the midnight game.

Select midnight (eastern) temps:
DCA - 84
IAD - 82
BWI - 85
PHL - 71
NYC - 63
BOS - 56
RIC - 77
CLT - 78
ATL - 76
JAX - 72
MCO - 72
MIA - 81
TPA - 79
IAH - 83
AUS - 79
PHX - 85

It's those summertime nighttime temps where DC really punches above its weight.

The oddity is that usually it is a river/UHI thing.  Not tonight.  Full on warm air advection with a breeze.

The temperature is barely dropping if at all tonight.  DCA was 82 at the 9pm ob and is 83 at 1am.

The *monthly* max min record at DCA is 78. At IAD it is 71 (current temp 81)!

Temps did finally drop.  IAD spent about 15 minutes below 70 degrees.  Still, impressive for May.
