Saturday looks like a big loser.  Hopefully the really crappy weekend days are limited from here on out.

Well, at least there's this to look forward to on Friday:

As the low broadens and shifts into the MI/OH/Lake Erie area during
the day Friday expect to see a wintry mix of precipitation with
continued raw and breezy conditions through the afternoon and
evening. With the location of the low and the slow movement there is
a possibility for convective instability to support graupel and
possibly even some thunders snow...but the confidence of exact
timing and location is uncertain. With abundant cloud cover GFS
MUCAPE increases briefly to over 400 over NE IN/NW OH...but again a
LOT can change with the model runs and have introduced a slight
chance of -T for a brief period Friday afternoon/evening.

GFS bouncing around as usual at this range but some runs bring some pretty big CAPE values well up into the sub mid-next week.

It looks like an active pattern with warmth trying to build north out of the southern plains once the weekend trough moves out.  The GFS isn't really honing in a particular system amping though, so I don't trust it.  GFS almost never amps the correct wave coming out of the SW US.  Op ECMWF is amped early with more warmth but less moisture return.  Ensembles are still spread all over.  It looks like there will be a battle between spring and winter shaping up, but its not really within range as to how it plays out.  No matter where the frontal zone actually ends up, a SW flow pattern will materialize at some point, which is more exciting than what we're having now.

Looking forward to the 70s Mon-Wed, and springlike humidity Wednesday.

12z Euro pretty ominous at first glance for severe Wed over a good chunk of the sub.

It looks like a hailer setup with dews in the 50s and steep lapse rates.  It's just that the instability doesn't make it very far east.

For MI, perhaps. For IA/IL/WI confluence...

:twister:

Looking for redemption after sitting out 3/5.

I prefer a share-the-wealth more.  Don't need tornadoes, but I'd like enough instability to actually hear some thunder.  :(  It's been a long time here.  3/5 had a lot of wind but no thunder here.

gfs trying to sell better times in the mid range, so far been a p typical spring here locally

recent soaking rains and wet soils should make for a great leaf out period here over the coming weeks with some early flowers already in bloom

i'm ready.

Picked up 0.49" last night/early this morning.

We're definitely behind on the greening up this year.  Most lawns are still brown/dormant.  Only the early budding trees have swollen buds, many still have buds the size they were in January.  Need some prolonged warmth to kick in to finally get things going.  The 3-day string of 70s Mon-Wed should help.

Interesting observation on the lawns.  Grass has gone from brown to pretty green here in the last week or two.  I wonder why there is such a difference?

If current op runs verify it could get very warm and very windy.  Haven’t seen a 980 low in April in recent years.  A little scary if there’s any instability with it.

.62" of rain the past two days with temps in the mid 30's for the most part.  Looks like the porkies are going to get buried with 15-20" of snow the next two days.  Could approach a foot here as colder air works in later today into tonight.ndfd_48hsnow.us_mw.thumb.png.79f4fb6565052375213b566ac8d20a6e.png

Snowing here right now. Looking for a couple inches today, and maybe a couple more tonight. Looks like the south shore of the Big Water in for a good snow. Still have old snow on the ground here in town. A testament to the snow of this past winter, and the cooler spring so far. Usually here in town, because it's so open, the snow melts off pretty quickly.
