Holston_River_Rambler
Closing in on a dusting here in MoCo with a hard band. Couldn't get to the Smokies, but made it up to Frozen Head this AM. The snow line (sticking anyway) was probably about 1800 feet. Wild geranium: Red trillium: 7

John1122
I've had several dustings today. Very intense snow showers at times. Not common for an afternoon in April to say the least, but it happens every few years.
John1122
Another heavy shower just blew through. They last 5 to 10 minutes but it just pours quarter or bigger wet flakes and the wind gets up to 20 or 30mph.
Carvers Gap
We have had two snow showers(almost looked convective in nature....). Precip began as rain, then it hailed...and then it switched to snow. I don't think the transition was grapple. The hail was pea size. I am not sure I have every seen that sequence of precip.
Dsty2001
I've seen some of the heaviest snow showers I've seen in a while today, looks like another one moving in
Jed33
There have been several very intense snow showers here today as well! Every time one is rolling in, the wind just starts bowling. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it snow in April and almost mid April at that

PowellVolz
Even here In the valley, I had some intense snow/sleet squalls with 30mph winds. If they lasted more than 10 min, the ground started turning white .

John1122
4 minutes ago, PowellVolz said: Did you end up with much? . I kept getting dustings that would melt off after it stopped snowing. It probably snowed 1.5-2 inches last night and today but it melted every time after each snow shower. About 500 feet above me it stuck, about 3/4ths inch to an inch there in the photo. At 2800ish feet where I have relatives, they got nearly 3 inches, temps hung out around 32 there today.

Holston_River_Rambler
Fireflies are out tonight on the plateau, lol. I don't know I've ever seen a day with moderate snow, AM frost the next morning, and then fireflies. 1

Carvers Gap
The cold front pushed through just after 4:30 yesterday. I covered up a good chunk of the garden in preparation for frost. Though I am not sure it frosted, the water on the tarps is frozen. So, it looks like we had a bit of a flash freeze just before dawn.

I won't plant anything susceptible until May 5th comes with a good forecast for the next 5 or 10 days.
