I watered in June for the early season, but only every 3rd day. Make it root deep. Even if we flash drought (unlikely now) it should be fine.. Sod is the exception. Must be babied all season long. I have to guess sod in this area is in good shape now. I have standing water in low spots. What a regime change! Yeah, man. I just quite watering the grass altogether. I couldn't keep up. My yard has gone from zero to hero.
PowellVolz
Knoxville doesn’t need anymore rain. Had severe flooding in spots a few days ago especially north of 40 from Powell to Halls. I picked up 3.25” in two hours and several roads had to be closed around my house in Halls. .

Yeah I was thinking yesterday when the precipitation was training into your area you would be pleasantly happy about a good soaking.
PowellVolz
Not sure where this possible flooding will come from just looking at the radar. Nothing downstream either… .
John1122
The wind was extremely strong in this severe storm. Pulled open and bent my storm door. That's another project incoming.
John1122
I was going to finally mow tomorrow as the grass had mostly dried out. So of course with what was a less than 20 percent chance of rain it's coming another flood.
John1122
Right at 1.8 inches of rain from this and still coming down. Tons of thunder and lightning again. No hail but severe level winds knocked out power county wide.
John1122
I went to my mower a few minutes ago, and sure enough as soon as I started it, deafening thunder. Now raining, again. Grass is getting extreme.
BlunderStorm
It got to a point up my way I gave up on the mower and pulled out the old weed-eater. Of course mid-way through knocking things back down to something resembling a yard a thunderstorm put an end to that and likely will today. I must say though I have been appreciating the moderated temperatures.
John1122
The daily downpour is under way. Another big time lightning and thunder producer. Nothing severe as yet, can do without losing power again today.
John1122
The rainfall rate is off the charts with this one. It's colors are off the color chart on the accuweather radar and are pegged out on the weather channel radar.
John1122
Not surprisingly, a lot of flooding reported here after that monster rainer. 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain fell in the county in about an hour. Saw some photos from down in LaFollette of nearly knee deep water in the Food City parking lot.
Carvers Gap
More rain here. Some great cloud formations here tonight. Volatile and rolling cloud formations. Sky just went dark when those storms came through.
PowellVolz
More rain here. Some great cloud formations here tonight. Volatile and rolling cloud formations. Sky just went dark when those storms came through. The last few storms that have hit know has had some very low cloud decks with scuds mixed in. Took this several days ago…Also seen this tree down on some power lines yesterday in Powell.
nrgjeff
Huntsville radar out for the month. Major upgrade in progress. Why August? The South can have flooding rains including tropical cyclone remnants. Severe wx is also possible if TC remnants go hybrid. I figure a fixed number of maintenance teams are available. They rotate from site to site. Somebody is going to get the outage at a bad time. Might be time to look at the budget. Common sense suggestions from Appalachia.
PowellVolz
MRX is hinting at some severe for next week. At least that’s how I read it. .
nrgjeff
Second hand Ob from Downtown Chattanooga Wednesday: Six teachers lost cars (totaled) to flooding at Battle Academy. Parking overflows (valid pun) onto street parking. Those cars suffered the worst water damage. Meanwhile about 10 miles away I have standing water in my back yard, which is usually a cool season thing. I figure August sun is still high enough to evaporate it quickly. Compared to dry 3-4 weeks ago, oh how things change! Might go back the other way in Sept. I'll save it for the pinned forecast thread.
John1122
Weird pattern today. 1 to 3 mile wide bands of extremely heavy rain, with dry and sunny weather in between. Been driving through them across Campbell, Anderson and now Knox as I'm heading to the K.O.C Jamboree at Central.

John1122
Rowdy storms and heavy rain for hours last night. The thunder just kept rolling and shaking the house. Three different waves.
Matthew70
Unfortunately the worse flash flooding I have seen in this area in a long long long time. Trees down & many houses around us have water in their homes now. Update. Rain has stopped but recorded by neighbors close to 7” of rain. Cars were stalled in front of our neighborhood. Pools are overflowing & drains being pulled to help let out water. Crawl spaces flooded in lower part of our neighborhood. Snakes are being seen everywhere where flood waters have brought them in.
