3/12 Event: Winters Last Hurrah at Least East of Mountains

This event did not fail due to "warmth" in the lowlands. The cold came in right on schedule. Lack of precip at that point is the problem, and the 6z NAM kinda nailed that. Dead zone in between the better forcing to the west behind the front, and the slug of moisture that moved along/ahead of the front that was rain.

Baltimore County folks, did anyone get several inches OR pavement caving of any kind?

Just trying to figure out where the cutoff was between areas who did very well and areas that busted

In Cloverly, MD we have several inches on everything else, but the pavement is still just wet.

Snowing decently here in Crofton with the backside deformation banding setting up. Before the lull, we may have gotten a quarter inch or so. Happy to hear the NW-W areas doing well.

For me, this winter was more than okay, especially after a disastrous December. 10.25" on January 3rd was really all I needed. That was a great storm at a great time of the season.

Streets still clear in upper NW but that certainly belies what's going on right above. This has been more than legit over the past hour or so although it's winding up now. Combo of cold, snow, and wind is as good as it's been since the biggie in 2016. Past hour, in fact, was a bit reminiscent of that Saturday afternoon. Well, except for the fact there's 1-2" maybe on the ground as opposed to 22".

Someone posted earlier that, recently at least, March has been DC's second best snow month after January. Today is further confirmation of that.

Agree. Still, this would have been widespread 2-6” or more if it had fallen at night.

Cloverly area in the northern reaches of Silver Spring has about 3", though it's hard to tell with all the wind. We aren't west.

You’re west of me and BWI and it made a notable difference
