Clouds that produce snow are pretty thin - and the sun is up - and it's March. It's going to be light unless you've got a nice thick cumulonimbus overhead. It also tends to look brighter given the high albedo of snow cover - even if it's only on the grass.
nw baltimore wx
Seems like down this way the column will support all snow before any sleet. Best thing about today is that we all bailed on the 5k this morning so I didn’t embarrass myself. But it’s still early in the day so there’s still time. psuhoffman
~5” here. Really hard to measure. Snow board is useless because it ended up in a wind tunnel. Most measurements between 4-6” so going with 5.
Baltimorewx
Precip shield is racing to the northeast around 50 kt based on radar extrapolation and model 0-6 km winds. Precip has already ended in areas like Charlottesville and it will likely exit entirely out of our CWA in the next 1 to 2 hrs. Observational trends around here show winds have diminished and visibilities have improved somewhat as snow has become lighter. Thinking that southeast areas will likely not meet the advisory criteria. Will likely be cancelling some advisories in the next few hours. Disappointing.

Kmlwx
45kts at Tangier Island now. That may be the strongest gust in the region so far this morning. Not surprising given that it's on the water.

BlizzardNole
Eyeballing 3" in Germantown; 29 degrees. Snow is lightening up but the gusty winds are blowing snow off roofs and trees into impressive sheets. Every so often we get a real roaring gust and it's a whiteout for a few seconds. And I took a walk yesterday afternoon at 62 degrees
