Eskimo Joe
00z NAM appears to remove and potential warm layer at 800mb. Would promote a "clean" transition from rain to snow.

Eskimo Joe
I don't blame LWX at all for holding with advisories. Too many last minute things can go wrong...always easier to up the ante. 12z RAOB from IAD, RNK, and PBZ will be telling tomorrow am.

09-10 analogy
Can't ever remember seeing a blizzard warning just long a ridge line like this one with the Shenandoahs, or a blizzard warning emmeshed in WWAs.
jayyy
HERPDYDERP with a pretty decent cutoff. 6-8” north of 70 from carroll county and points WNW (with 10” lollies) and 1-3” near the metros along

jayyy
Euro GFS NAM RAP HRRR HRDPS blend here is north of 6”. Sold. Go ahead. Keep my advisory up, LWX. We oddly (and obviously 100% coincidentally) tend to overperform when we have advisories hoisted during marginal events more often than we meet warning criteria during marginal events. I’ll take the advisory knowing we’ll likely exceed the upper end and could be upgraded mid storm. There’s something awesome about having your advisory upgraded mid storm with heavy paste falling

In 1982 we had a nearly dry frontal passage with 30-40 mph winds that caused blizzard warnings to be issued. There was a good 10" of snow on the ground and some main roads here drifted closed. The stars were out yet winds were whipping snow reducing visibility to zero at times. Fun stuff!

Eskimo Joe
SPC meso analysis starting to pick up on the good frontogenetic forcing developing over the TN River Valley. There are reports from some mets on Twitter that rates are upwards of 1" - 1.5" under the band in SW TN. A good sign.
