ILSNOW
pretty clear that the 18z NAM is the only model that has a handle on this (joking) 1

Radtechwxman
It's too bad the storm peaks to our west and dampens east. Would have been a good track for a lot of us to cash in. Hrrr/rap look a bit more robust like nam but not holding my breath. Probably another 1-3in at best.
Hoosier
Is it possible to return to the pre-upgraded GFS? Like seriously. 1

Well things changed and I really don't need a snowstorm this weekend. You know how life is. You can have it all! *But really I will take anything over ice, so if it is a choice between ice or snow, please GAWD give me snow.
Radtechwxman
Yeah I wouldn't trust any gfs solution. Lol
Hoosier
fwiw, one of the main players with this system is still way up north, like in the Arctic Circle.
Hoosier
The GFS has really gotten to a new level of bad this winter when it comes to dealing with storm systems. I'm not even talking about the main low. Just look at what it's doing in the next 48-72 hours.

Word has it the folks at the Farmer's Almanac have taken over full duty in GFS programming and product development.

At least at the time we had the "old" guidance to compare/contrast.

And there's not even a known bias (ala 2008 NW trend). Sometimes it's north, sometimes south. Sometimes it benefits you. Sometimes it screws you. The only thing you can count on with the gfs anymore is that it will be incorrect.

Kind of like if Ford knows that some of their new Lightning pickup trucks could possibly spontaneously burst into flames and then still release to the dealers for sale.

sbnwx85
I've paid zero attention to this until this afternoon, but looking at the models (besides GFS) if everything goes perfectly, I think I could end up with 4" between the system and lake-effect. Would be decent haul for March.
