Another system like the last one on the 21st. Very mixed scenario. This time they have snow amounts lower for the North Shore. They did well on their last forecast snow amounts on the 21st, so expecting the same here with the lower amounts for that area. WSWtch turned into WWAdv, meaning expectations have been lowered for this system since yesterday.

Rain starting, and looks like some freezing is occurring in some areas. Temps right at or a couple degrees above freezing. Some rumbles of thunder being reported, too.

Update: It's 2:30 am and just headed to bed. Mixed precip coming down, and roads look rather slick. Morning drive going to be ugly for folks.

One note about the current system.  Although it has happened before at this time of year, it is pretty unusual to see this deep of a surface low at these latitudes in late March.  For example, barometric pressure at ORD will probably bottom out not too far above 29.00" later.

some heavier than expected snow incoming tomorrow morning.   Expect some advisories to be issued for southern Wisconsin shortly

Looking increasingly likely that there could even be a DAB-2" of snowfall across portions of N IL as well, tonight into tomorrow morning.

29.24 at ORD and 29.26 at KIND. Looks like you will get closer. Might not make it though.

remember when the mention of snow was a mystery term in forecasts in October/November and December? And now we pay:

 THE UPPER LOW
ARRIVES THURSDAY WHEN SOME SNOW POTENTIAL MAY RETURN, BUT THIS IS
CURRENTLY AFTER THE END OF THE NEW 7 DAY PERIOD. CMS

welcome to Chicago Cubs opening day where it's tradition to be able to keep your Old Style frosted for free courtesy of ma nature.

Only 0.13" here today.

Only 0.13" here last night too.  lol

We did get some serious winds mixed down this morning between 5 and 6 AM with several gusts measuring between 55-65 MPH across northeast Indiana.  I have to go survey a couple of damage reports, one destroying an attached garage.
