Definitely can tell the difference with solar Phil where people get lots of sun vs less sun. You go from 4-6” to tulips growing.  Even down in Duxbury they have coverage thanks to the woods.

Can see it up here too.  Steep south facing road cuts going bare despite below freezing temps throughout.

This is the time of year when south facing aspects really start to struggle holding onto snow.  South facing windy spots like the Mtn Golf Course up here will burn bare fast while feet of snow remain on opposite aspects.

I have some oak leaves that fell onto the pack and they’ve now melted about 2” deep into it.

Skiing at Cranmore. Areas off trail mostly bare. No perfect spring season coming here unless they get more snow.

Lol. What a giant torch snow hole the valley has been over the past few years. To be fair the west facing side of the valley just bakes all day. In the spring you can usually count on mountain biking there weeks before anywhere else is in.

Yeah, definitely felt more like the end of March rather than the beginning there today.

Can't imagine how it will look by Wednesday.

Western slopes of wide open valleys get long duration solar energy.  The steep eastern slopes see a lot of shadow and are a much colder environment.

Ya it’s great for the mtb trails on the west slope cause it dries quick all spring and summer but cranmore melts out fast. It’s not one of those spots that has feet of snow left on closing day.

No trigger. Just all amped up over Uconn. Gonna be a deep tourney run this year. There’s a small area near the street that melts out first this time of year yes

Great defense and good free throw shooting as a team which is great for March, but man, I do worry about these late leads being blown, even though they've been winning.

Love March Madness. Can't wait.

Guys, the ice slab and piles left from that sleet storm have kept hanging on all this time: 8 days now? There have been some pretty warm days too. I know it was a long time ago to mention this but yes they did get at least a couple inches of sleet even down in E Lyme.

Up here there was just enough snow mixed with the sleet to give it a white color to refuse the sunlight. The piles from plowing became pure ice mounds and are treacherous to walk on. The biggest piles could even outlast tomorrows rains?

I can see why it is meteorological spring now. Lots of 60s slipping in.
