All the models busted too warm at the surface (not shocking)

NAM won on the upper levels, I feel bad for the Mid Hudson region getting shafted.

That was always an iffy area even though maybe up to Albany might’ve gotten shafted. The I-84 area was always on the bubble and lost out from the inevitable warmer trend at the mid levels on these.

Good morning all. Rain at the moment with light sleet accumulations in evidence. Ref: NWS, CPK, 31 degrees with unknown precipitation type (?) all other NYC Stations report freezing rain. 9:51 total liquid, .73. Below are photos of the sleet accumulations on the postage stamp and environs. Stay safe and warm, as always ..

Luckily temps have mainly hovered around 31-32F to limit icing here though a glaze on colder surfaces is present.

A couple degrees colder and it would've been a major problem.

Yeah it worked out pretty well for our area. Not cold enough for the freezing rain to cause very serious problems, but a beautiful scene with the trees coated with ice. I know most people don't want ice, but it's one of nature's most beautiful scenes.

It’s been the story all winter here. Spring can’t come fast enough. 44% of  the seasonal average for my location.

Learned my lesson with this storm. If the primary is tracking into upstate NY it is over for significant snow  south of I90 unless there is a cold deep airmass out ahead that could support significant front end.

We usually do well with these events. MLK event we cashed in, not this time tho.

You aren't that far north but pretty far west so yes it would make sense you'd do better MLK day storm where the gradient was more SE to NW as opposed to south to north. Also that storm had a very cold airmass in place, it was in the single digits that morning and a colder entrenched airmass aloft as well, even the city started with a few hours of snow.
