From rooftop of Tysons, can definitely see the shelf cloud getting bigger and bigger. It's not backlit so it doesn't look as ominous.

Few miles south of me. I took this right before things got crazy. There was clear rotation. Then it got bad enough quick that getting the kids to safety outweighed getting better video footage.

CENTRAL FAUQUIER...AND CENTRAL PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTIES...THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX...THE NORTHWESTERN CITY OF FALLS CHURCH...THE CITY OF
MANASSAS PARK AND THE CITY OF MANASSAS...

At 526 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near North Potomac to 6 miles southwest of Linton
Hall, moving east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
         fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
         homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
         trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
         light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include...
Germantown, Centreville, Dale City, Rockville, Bethesda,
Gaithersburg, Reston, Annandale, South Riding, Herndon, Fairfax,
Vienna, Falls Church, Broadlands, Lansdowne, Lowes Island,
Brambleton, Mantua, Pimmit Hills and Poolesville.

Power still out up here. Hear sirens a lot. I cleaned up the yard somewhat. Found the pool stuff 2 doors down. Kids playhouse was mostly ok. Lost some tiki torches and some big branches but nothing too bad. Neighbor lost a tree. 
 

Heading out to find somewhere with power to get the kids dinner. Maybe Westminster.

A little gusty just before the rain moved in, but the star of the show was the hail here in Leesburg. Got up to about quarter sized before calming back down.

I mean...unless it collapses...I'm liking radar for MBY right now. Yeah..the outflow is right on top of me almost....but radar looks good and almost looks bow echo-ey well into MoCo.

I think it's more just the rear part of that "seahorse" shape. Don't think it's a down/microburst.

I'm kind of surprised LWX didn't have that warning go a bit further north and east - especially since we tend to get warnings for 50mph storms.

The advertised 40-50mph winds on radar did not reach MBY. Stormy but don’t think the leaves ever felt in danger

Radar looks super impressive for MBY, but it’s pretty much a garden-variety storm. Decent rain, a little breeze, and the occasional lightning strike.

PWS has detected 200 strikes already - most of those in the past 10 minutes.
