87storms
the it's too windy before the storm arrives rule is in full effect up here. didn't even have to look at the radar.
Kmlwx
Outside of huge lines like derechos...this is how you can get some decent severe in these parts. Put up a lone cell that can pretty much have the environment to itself. That will definitely be the star of the show for today.

When you get that close to the radar, you can really see the streakiness of the winds.

My wife asked me to move her car out of the carport to take advantage of the car wash-like deluge, and I'd no sooner got it out into the driveway when I heard the hard pinging start...needless to say, I pulled it back into the carport.

vastateofmind
A shot closer to ground level....it was an impressive five minutes of hail. I'm a little scared to look at our barely two-year old roof. 7

Stormfly
Nothingburger for us as usual. At least yesterday we were treated with a beautiful rainbow and pink glow everywhere. They are dismissing schools early now for gusty showers?

BlizzardNole
Parents (4 miles south of Dunkirk) said marble-sized hail and wind, and the rain was so intense for a few minutes that it overtopped the gutters. They have a new car and no garage/carport so they were really relieved when the hail didn't get bigger

Or do I just have a recency bias? This area is not good for severe and snow. Before 9/11 it was referred as a disaster free zone. (NoVA/DC). Now they say natural disaster free. And hail, you want to see the big stuff get out to the plains. But prepare to have your car totaled if you don't have a garage. And that garage needs a good roof. Typical 3 tab shingles over 1/2" plywood isn't cutting it.
