Outside of huge lines like derechos...this is how you can get some decent severe in these parts. Put up a lone cell that can pretty much have the environment to itself. That will definitely be the star of the show for today.

Indeed. One of the worst hails I've experienced since moving to this house 20+ years ago. My wife asked me to move her car out of the carport to take advantage of the car wash-like deluge, and I'd no sooner got it out into the driveway when I heard the hard pinging start...needless to say, I pulled it back into the carport.  ;)

This area is not good for severe and snow.  Before 9/11 it was referred as a disaster free zone.  (NoVA/DC).  Now they say natural disaster free. ;)

And hail, you want to see the big stuff get out to the plains.  But prepare to have your car totaled if you don't have a garage.  And that garage needs a good roof.  Typical 3 tab shingles over 1/2" plywood isn't cutting it.
